Spar Apple Cookies

Spar Appelkoeken — Dutch apple biscuits, a softer, chewier biscuit format than a standard butter biscuit, made with dried or fresh apple pieces and warm spice. Traditional Dutch appelkoeken are associated with autumn and winter baking when apple and spice flavours come into season.

Ingredients

Wheat flour, dried apple pieces (8%), brown sugar, butter, eggs, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, oats, baking powder, salt. Contains gluten, milk, eggs. May contain traces of tree nuts.

Serving

Excellent with a cup of tea or filter coffee. Warm briefly (10 seconds in a microwave) to refresh the apple and spice aroma. Crumble over vanilla ice cream for a quick dessert topping.
